<p>Before July 2026, the eGates were only open to travellers aged 10 and over, which regularly split families with younger children between the fast eGates lane and the slower staffed desks. Lowering the age to 8 was aimed specifically at reducing that split, letting more families travel through border control together. The height requirement stayed unchanged, since it's what determines whether the gate's camera can reliably capture a usable image, not just a matter of policy.</p>
