You can cancel an Official Heathrow Airport parking booking free of charge up to 2 hours before your stated arrival time, and amend it up to 24 hours before. Refunds go back to the card or digital wallet you paid with. If your flight is delayed and you overstay, you are charged the daily rate for the extra time. Checked 2026.

How cancelling an Official Heathrow parking booking works

Official Heathrow Airport parking can be cancelled without charge as long as you do it at least 2 hours before your booked arrival time. Cancellations and amendments are both handled through the Manage my booking tool on Heathrow's own website, using the booking reference from your confirmation email. If you need your confirmation resent, you can request this through the same tool.

Amending dates or times

If your travel dates change rather than your trip being cancelled outright, you can amend your booking up to 24 hours before your original arrival time. Any price difference between your old and new booking is calculated automatically, and you will either be charged the difference or refunded it, depending on whether the new dates cost more or less.

Change you want to make

Deadline

Cost

Cancel the booking entirely

Up to 2 hours before arrival

Free

Amend dates, times or duration

Up to 24 hours before arrival

Price difference charged or refunded

Overstay beyond your booked period

Not applicable

Daily rate charged for extra time

What happens if your flight is delayed

If your flight is delayed and you go beyond the end date and time of your original parking booking, Heathrow charges the standard daily rate for any additional time you are parked. If you realise in advance that you will overstay, you can extend your booking through Manage my booking rather than waiting to be charged on exit, which can work out cheaper than an unplanned overstay rate.

Can you just turn up and park on the day?

Pre-booking online is cheaper than paying on the day at Heathrow, since online prices are discounted compared with on-the-day rates. You can still pre-book online for same-day stays as long as the stay is 24 hours or longer. For anything shorter than 24 hours, you cannot pre-book online and instead pay the on-the-day price for whichever car park you use, so check the relevant car park's own page for its walk-up rate before you travel. Terminal Parking accepts walk-up arrivals but charges its on-the-day price rather than a discounted online rate.

How refunds are paid

Refunds are returned to the same payment method used at the time of booking. If you paid with Apple Pay or Google Pay, the refund goes back to the card registered with that wallet at the time of the original transaction, not necessarily your current default card, so check which card was linked if a refund does not appear where you expect it.

Practical tips for managing your Heathrow parking booking

Cancel or amend online through Manage my booking rather than calling, since online changes are processed immediately.

If your flight time changes, check your parking dates the same day, since the 24-hour amendment deadline can pass quickly.

If you think you might overstay, extend the booking in advance rather than waiting to pay the overstay rate on exit.

Keep your booking reference and confirmation email until after your trip in case you need to query a charge or refund.

Related reading

For a comparison of parking options, see our guide to Heathrow meet and greet parking and meet and greet versus long-stay parking.
