Heathrow Taxi Ranks: Where to Find One by Terminal

Heathrow operates four active terminals — T2, T3, T4 and T5 — and each has its own black cab rank and its own rideshare pickup arrangement. Landing at the wrong exit and hunting for a taxi wastes time you don't need to lose, so here's what's confirmed for each.

Quick answer

Black cab ranks: at every terminal, no booking needed

Every terminal has its own official, marshalled black cab rank just outside the arrivals hall. You don't need to book ahead — simply follow signage from baggage reclaim to arrivals and the rank is a short walk beyond the doors. Because each terminal has a separate rank, the queue and wait time can vary terminal to terminal, particularly when several long-haul flights land close together. See our taxis guide for fare estimates once you're in a cab.

Rideshare apps: not at the forecourt

This is the detail that catches people out: Uber, Bolt and similar apps do not collect from the terminal forecourt at Heathrow. Instead, they use the short-stay Terminal Parking car park for each terminal, which is a longer walk than the black cab rank.

Build extra walking time into your plans if you're using a rideshare app rather than the rank, especially at T4 since the June 2026 change. Our drop-off page has more on how pickup and drop-off zones are organised at each terminal.

Pre-booked minicabs

If you've pre-booked a minicab rather than using a rideshare app or the black cab rank, the driver's meeting point is set by the operator, not by Heathrow — confirm exactly where to meet when you book, since it may be the rank, the short-stay car park, or a dedicated pickup point depending on the company.
